Gifts for New Baby

Coming up with gift ideas for new baby that are practical and creative can be tough. I’m a kindergarten teacher, so I get invited to my fair share of baby showers. Mom’s from school will often invite me to their get togethers. I have to come up with new ideas all the time, the same Mom’s attend the same showers and afternoon tea parties, so if I start giving the same gifts all the time I look silly!

Here is my list of creative gift ideas for a new baby. Some of them are a bit outside of the square, but I think this is a good thing as long as your gift is still practical.

I have given as well as received some creative gift ideas for new baby over the years. When I had my first daughter a friend bought me a gift certificate for an online photo lab. Back then I had very little computer experience, but I got online anyway and tried it out. I had pictures of my daughter Hannah printed in a coffee table book. I also had a canvas print made for the wall. Those pictures are now treasured family heirlooms which I hang on my wall with pride.

I recently was in a bookshop and saw one of my favorite childhood books. I gave this as a gift to my newborn nephew. Gift ideas for new baby which you or your child enjoyed as an infant or toddler always have a little bit more special meaning to them.

A beautiful handmade quilt is something that will be treasured by both parents and baby for years to come. Whether you buy a quilt from a market or craft store or have the talent to make it yourself, quilts are excellent gift ideas for new baby.

Last minute gift ideas

So you forgot that your cousin was due with her baby? Friend gave birth early? Here are my gift ideas for new baby for when you don’t have time to wander around the shops. Getting flowers delivered is a great idea. You can order online and arrange for delivery. Many flower shops also offer new baby gifts like balloons and gift baskets.

Another good idea if you are really stuck is the gift voucher. You can quickly duck into your local baby store and pick up a voucher which you can place in a nice card. Chocolates and champagne never go astray when parents are concerned! They are also a great way to congratulate new parents. Put them together with a toy for the baby and you are in business.
