Gifts for New Baby

Unique baby gifts not only make a great impression but they also become treasured keepsake in years to come. Everybody needs baby basics. Giving a gift like jumpsuits, clothes and teddy bears will never go astray. When someone special in your life becomes a parent, you probably want to give them something a little less ordinary.

I knew I wanted to find some unique baby gifts for my niece, Alexandra. She was the first child of my youngest sister. Sarah was the last in our family to have kids, so I guess for the extended family the novelty had worn off, but I didn’t want Sarah to feel any less special.

I think the best unique baby gifts should be something that can be enjoyed by baby and parents. Memory books are great. Parents can enjoy collecting photos and keepsakes now, when baby is older they can enjoy looking at their early life. You can buy these books quite cheaply. To make it a unique gift, complete the first few pages with newborn photos, birth date and time and anything else you think is significant before you present it to the parents.

Some other unique baby gifts include a baby birth chart. Hang it up in the nursery now, measure baby’s process to toddler, then child, marking their growth along the way. I really like these kind of gifts that will be used now and in the future.

On of the most unique baby gifts that my sister received is well worth mentioning. A friend set up a website for their new daughter. They bought the domain name for Alexandra’s name and created a web site. It was filled with photos and other information, as well as a place for guests to leave a message.

I really did like the idea of a website, however my computer skills left that way out of reach! Any unique baby gifts that I was going to find for my sister would need to be a little bit more down to earth. I guess that’s the things about baby gifts, they need to suit the family that you are giving them too, as well as your relationship with them.

I found my unique baby gifts at my local jeweler. In the window I noticed a tiny gold ID bracelet, small enough to fit a baby. I bought the baby bracelet, and similar adult sized bracelets for the new Mom and Dad. I had them all engraved with Alexandra’s name and birthday.

When I presented the bracelets to my sister and brother-in-law, they were really overwhelmed with emotion, and I’m sure when she is old enough Alex will love her bracelet too.
